Falling

Can I really just keep waiting
And watching as
The world
falls
in
love?
I stand with my eyes wide open
And my feet planted firmly on the ground.
What I would give for a chance,
To fall off this ledge I’m on
And split the chains holding me in place.
To float down, slowly,
Or rush to the ground, fast and dangerously.
I would willingly go down,
With my eyes closed, and my hands tied,
To feel the high and the wind through my hair.
I would willingly shatter, as I hit the floor,
Or maybe land softly, barefoot,
Against the cushioned ground,
Just to feel the flapping of
A million butterflies in my belly.
I would willingly jump blind,
Into the rapids or spikes below,
And be swooped through the air, and
Scraped on the ground.
If I had somebody ready to
fall
with
me.
We don’t need to survive
Or make it out unscathed.
For I would tumble down recklessly every time,
For the chance to
slow dance
through
the clouds
or sway
through
the sky.
